From the Dept. of Things You Don't Notice dept...

This is the doorway to the old kitchen...soon to be my office.  This doorway has not previously had a door hung on it, but the plan all along has been to put a door on there.  Simple, eh?

Upon closer examination, the two walls of the doorway are not "in plane" with one another,so the sides of the doorway do not meet each other.

They'll be able to hang a door anyway, with a bit of kludging.  It's just strange that we could live in the house for 8+ years and not notice the two sides of the doorway were that different.

One other thing you'll notice in the picture.  The flooring in my office runs a different direction than the old floor.  Also turns out all our old flooring runs parallel to the floor joists, when it is customary (and better) to put the flooring perpendicular to the joists.  That may partly explain why the old floor has as much movement as it does.
