a new low-water mark in photographic quality for the blog--taken with the webcam on my Mac.

This is the scene that greeted our arrival home today.  It's hard to tell from the photo, but the landing at the side door is covered with Ditra membrane, with fresh thinset mortar underneath and on top of it.  All of this in preparation for the slate tiles that will be laid at the entrance.  This would be the sort of thing you shouldn't walk on while it is wet. 

That would include going downstairs to check on the laundry room, or get the camera to take picture of the landing.  Or, say, use the bathroom.

It'd be nice to say this would be over once the thinset had dried, but of course there will be another day when the slate is actually laid down, and yet another day when the grout is applied.  As long as nobody takes the porta-potty away before then I guess...
