The weather in the morning was good, so the guys were able to install the three main roof beams. Jane and I were at home to watch a couple of these go up. No real opportunity to use cranes or block + tackle, so they brought in a couple of extra guys to help out with the heavy lifting.
The beams where ordered to be slightly longer than needed, and then the supplier rounded up the length to the next standard size...so there was wood left over. There are 3 substantial off-cuts in the garage (each is at least 3 feet long). We'll explore how we can put these to work, since they are nice pieces of wood. I'm going to see if our kitchen contractor can make use of them in some interesting way.

The hydro wires were propped up out of the way, and heavy steel hangers were installed on the inside face of this beam. The main roof beams are seated in these hangers and bolted in place.

The north wall has notches cut out to receive the other end of the beams.

The beams were a tight fit into the steel hangers. A bit of bike grease on the hangers helped things along.
