First Roof Beam

So the first of the Doug Fir pieces went up today.  This was the shorter beam that was underneath the blue tarp.  It was installed over top of the south window, and provides structure for anchoring one end the 3 longer beams which run the same direction as the roof slope.

Unfortunately, the three main roof beams probably can't be installed until we have the hydro wires moved out of the way.

Let's get to the pictures...

Josh helps lift the beam into place.

Those three wires are the hydro connection.  Yes, they were that close...not trick photography!

That's Gerald, our foreman, in the ball cap and jean jacket.

Andrew, the head carpenter, wearing the white t-shirt.

The beam sticks out to allow the roof to overhang the second storey balcony.

Everything set into place
