Update du jour

The house has sounded like the inside of a World War II bomber for the past few evenings. with a number of large fans going full-tilt to help each coat of drywall mud dry overnight.  The plan of the moment is to have the drywall sanded on Thursday, and the walls primed on Friday.  That clears the path for hardwood flooring to be installed next week. There are a few bits of plumbing/electrical to tweak, and still a non-trivial amount of drywall to do in the basement, so it's fingers crossed we can still hit Thursday.

The new shingles are on most of the roof, and the garage roof.  They look nice.  No pictures today as it was pouring rain when I got home.  Much of the temporary "floor" in the loft space has been removed so the drywall can be hung in that area.  It's nice to get a glimpse of how things will be.  Once again, no photos on account of not much daylight left after dinner.

We got a revised tile quote, which was somewhat better, combined with the slightly less expensive floor tile for the laundry room.  It appears the tile savings will be more or less offset by the stone ledges for the showers.   We've decided to use a synthetic product (CeasarStone) for these instead of marble or granite.  There is very little of the actual material needed, but a good number of cuts to make the various pieces.

On the outside of the house, we need to pick a shape and colour for the corrugated metal siding, and then we'll have dealt with all the various exterior materials.

This missive was received Sunday from the Cat's Meow Inn.  It's good to see they are making the best of things...
