The Sink, The Laundry, The etc.

The Sink

When we last discussed kitchen sinks, we had a drawing of the island sink to be custom made by Ridalco.

We went to pick up the sink this morning.  Looks like the drawing, eh?

There's a protective film over the sink in the pictures above, which makes it hard to see sink-proper.  Here's a better look at the inside.

I went over to Preston Hardware to pick up the corresponding faucet, and did a quick test to verify that the faucet hole was drilled to the correct dimension.  Then I took the sink over to Frank's shop, across from where I work.  Jane stopped by as well, and that was her first chance to see the kitchen island.

Also on the sink front, the main kitchen sink should be in a Preston on Friday, and the faucets for both sinks are already in.

The Laundry

Work has started to rehab the laundry room...

The washer and dryer are temporarily over in the furnace area.  You can see the framing for what will be a door to close off the furnace area.

The laundry room itself is cleaned out, and Andrew has done most of the framing that will be needed here.

The etc.

The insulation inspection has passed, and the kitchen is cleaned out in preparation for drywall.  It now appears drywall may start this week after all.  If nothing else, the drywall crew has requested access to the house to work Saturday.  I believe there was supposed to be a delivery of drywall today, but there was some sort of issue with accessing the house because of the dumpster sitting in the driveway.  Hopefully that gets ironed out tomorrow, and we can begin drywall Thursday or Friday.  The 6ft window in the basement (W13) has been temporarily removed so the drywall panels for the basement can be brought in through the window.

Gerald returns to work next week, and we will be preparing for flooring and exterior materials, what with picking out colours, finishes, suppliers, etc.  We also have a meeting on Tuesday with the "tile guy" to review our tile choices and get some stuff ordered.
