A post-script to yesterday's activities. Someone had clearly been working on the furnace yesterday, but the front cover was still left off, etc. so we decided not to chance turning it on last night. The daytime temps have been in the 20's this week, but it has been cold at night (last night was 2 C). Temps in the house are around 15, which is pretty chilly. We've been getting good use out of the hand-knit wool socks we received recently in a care package from Switzerland.
Gerald's going to get things sorted out today. Until then, I'm keeping a close eye on the socks.
Funny remark of the day overheard yesterday just after the crew brought the island into the kitchen... "OK, now we have to get this thing upstairs". lol
