TOAST-E

The furnace installation finished up on Friday, so the house has been much warmer at night.  The new furnace has a variable speed fan, which although much quieter, still takes some getting used to sound-wise.

The drywall crew was here on Saturday, and again late today.  Most areas of the house now have drywall sheets on them.  The exceptions are the laundry room, the old kitchen, and a bit of Simone's room.  The other parts of the basement were finished up today.  The kitchen has had some of the seams taped, and the first layer of mud over all the seams and the screw heads.  The bedroom and other areas haven't been taped, but there has been some "mud work" done to fill in divots, and start to join the old plaster onto the new drywall in places where they share the same surface.

Jane and I spent more time over the weekend looking at paint colours for the upper kitchen cabinets, and also at stain colours for the cedar soffits and marine plywood panels.  After much thought, the cabinet colour is chosen, and we're getting close on the exterior stuff.  We also took a trip to good ol' Preston Hardware, this time to look at exterior and interior door handles.  We're about 80% of the way to having these picked out.

Also on Sunday, the every 2 week run for bottled water for cooking, and the now weekly trip to Laundry Land to get the wash done.  The weather was quite nice, so we were able to sit outside on the half-broken benches outside Laundry Land while were getting the laundry done.

This morning we had a quick visit with Gerald, and then the Tile Guy stopped by to take his measurements.  We went over the tile arrangement for the two bathrooms again in order to solve a few small problems.

Here are a few photos of the bedroom drywall, taken over the weekend.
