Weekend of work

Lots of activity over the weekend.  Both plumbing and drywall were here on Saturday, and again drywall on Sunday.  It turns out that many of the trades are trying to get jobs wrapped up before their employees all take off for a week or two for moose hunting season.

They were all apologetic for disrupting our weekend, where as we were thankful that they are helping finish the job sooner.

Yet more supply and logistics work for Jane and I over the weekend.  We were going to make a first trip to shop for light fixtures, but the shop we wanted to go to was closed by the time we got there.  Next weekend.  Then back to Preston Hardware for a second pass over the doorknobs.  We're getting there, but still not 100% on that.  Today we were out to Olympia Tile to look at an alternative tile for the laundry room...the theory being that smaller tiles would translate to lower labour costs because the floor prep would not be as critical as it would be with 12x12 inch (30cm) tiles.  We found some 6.5 inch (16cm) tiles that we liked, and were slightly less expensive than the larger tiles we had chosen.  We'll be discussing this with the Tile Guy to see if that helps cut the labour cost for the tile job.  We also started looking at floor and wall tiles for the shower in the downstairs bathroom.  We have a pre-fab plastic shower there right now, but there is a crack in the shower floor and it leaks, etc.  So once we have a functioning bathroom upstairs, we'll be re-doing the downstairs shower.

Stain colours for the exterior wood panels and cedar soffits have been selected, and we're close to choosing a paint colour for the exterior Hardie Board.  Next up will be to get some samples of corrugated medal to choose a shape and colour for the small amount of corrugated metal that will be used near the new entrance.
