Signs of Winter

Here's what the view looked like this morning from the bedroom.

Brrrrr....God thing we got the winter clothes back on the weekend.

Yesterday was the last day of our street parking permit, and the city celebrated by giving us a parking ticket at 5am, based on their wintertime overnight parking ban when there is 7cm or more of snow in the forecast.  We usually don't pay much attention to these warnings because we've either parked in the driveway, or had a permit that would exempt us from the overnight parking ban.  The one night we're "exposed" wouldn't you know it we get a ticket.

Evenings have been busy, so I haven't had any photo time.  I'll try and grab a few shots before I leave for work tomorrow.

Lots of progress here and there with the house.

• Andrew finished ripping up the carpet from the basement, and today he built most of the structure for the deck outside.  It would have been pretty unpleasant working out there today.
• Peter got the dishwasher installation mostly finished up.  There is one fastener that still needs to be changed, and I am going do the adjustments where the control panel can be shimmed to fit level with the tops of the cupboard doors.
• The cabinetry in the laundry room is basically done, and pulls have been mounted on all the doors, drawers, etc.  The dryer vent has been re-routed as well.
• There has been some action on the island sink.  The extreme thickness of the island top has made it a challenge to simply tighten the nut on the underside of the faucet to snug it to the sink deck.  Frank had to come by a couple of times to modify the underside of the island to give the plumber more working space for the fastener.  In theory, the plumber will be here tomorrow to try and connect the island sink.
• We have pulls on the drawers and doors of the bath vanities.
• Lots more painting here and there.  Simone's room is almost done, though there is also electrical work that needs to be done before she can move in.
• Jane has done a bunch more organizing in the kitchen, so most things are now put away "somewhere", even if we will shift things around as we get used to the space.  One thing we need to look into is various sorts of dividers for the big drawers.
