This is the first weekend since we moved back to the house that we haven't been travelling. It's been nice to spend a bit of time here without the drone of hammers and circular saws.
One thing that's been nice is we can start to see what the light will be like in the new spaces at various times of the day. Both the kitchen and the bedroom get lots of nice natural light through the day.
Our living space is somewhat more evolved since the pictures I posted a couple of weeks ago. I'll try and put up a couple of pics tomorrow to show how our half lives.
Jane and I met with Lindsay, our contractor, to take stock of where we are schedule-wise, and discuss the next phases of the project. We are hoping to be able to move into the space in mid to late October. Of course, this is just a guesstimate, and things could change if we hit a bottleneck waiting for one or more sub-trades. To date, we've been fortunate to have various sub-trades here and working when we've needed them.
Jane and I got out the spreadsheets this weekend to look at cashflow, etc. for the next phase of things to make sure we are shipshape that way.
Gerald will be on holidays for the next two weeks. Our carpenter, Andrew, will be filling-in for him as far as our project goes.
Jane has been looking at various designs for how the steps and deck for the back entrance could work. The original design is a bit large for what we want, and doesn't incorporate the handrail mandated by building code. The trick is how to put in the handrail, but still keep an open feel to the steps up to the entrance.
