Q: How is everyone adapting to the hotel?
A: It's comfortable, but obviously not like home. The cats are getting better. The mattresses are not that comfy. I brought my pillows from home, so that's good. On Friday, the maid accidentally folded up the sofa-bed while Tika was trapped inside (she's OK now but hides when the maid comes to clean). The fire alarm at 4am last night was not appreciated. At least we didn't have to actually evacuate the place. Oh, and the Internet service here is free, but it is crap compared to what we have at home.
Q: Where/what is this "loft space" you keep mentioning?
A: There is a space in the addition, approximately 1m wide that is open between the ground floor and second floor. This space is right beside the big South Window, and also includes the two windows from the existing house that will look into the addition. The loft space does not show up well in many of the photos, because much of the open area is filled in with temporary scaffolding to help with construction.
Q: If the addition has a kitchen and a master bedroom, what happens to the old kitchen and the old master bedroom?
A: The old kitchen becomes my office space...the old master bedroom becomes Jane's studio space. That's my office window in the picture above near the word LOFT. The old master bedroom is at the front of the house, so it hasn't yet appeared on any pictures or plans that I have posted.

ReplyDeleteA.It's comfortable, but obviously not like home. We get the Comedy Network and Discovery channel, and take the elevator downstairs to our colour-coded yet confusing parking lot. Our kitchen has unusually outdated appliances and creepishly similar cupboards and counters...and our fire alarm speaks.But I've failed to notice any difference in matresses.
