There was some more demolition today where the upstairs bathroom used to be. The old subfloor had a pretty significant slope to it, owing to how he floor joists have settled over the years, and how the dormer on the back of the house placed some load on second storey interior walls. So the old subfloor in that area was removed, and a new subfloor will be shimmed to be more level.
We gained a floor today too...the concrete floor in the basement floor was poured. I don't have any pictures today, so you will have to use your imagination to picture a freshly-poured slab of concrete.
The new main bathroom will have a glass block window up high in the shower to provide some natural light in the room. Jane and I went to the house today to finalize the size and placement of the window. It should be quite private, given the obscuring effect of the glass blocks, and the window itself won't come any lower than shoulder height when you're standing up in the shower.
A sad day indeed for those who played marbles on the sloped floor - on the other hand, now all the rooms will be level with one another.
ReplyDeleteBut the best day ever for those who used rolly-chairs when using the computer...
