The Friday Files

No pictures today...I'll try and post some over the weekend.  Here's an update on various fronts:

Addition

We had a meeting with Christopher (our architect) and Gerald to review a bunch of construction details to do with the exterior, and the two bathrooms.  Some of this meeting took place on the second floor, so I had to throw caution to the wind and go up (and down) the ladder.  It was leaning against the house in the loft space, so getting back down wasn't that difficult after all.  It was my first chance to walk around in the new bedroom, and I must say I really like the way the space is coming together.

The roof is close to watertight now, and almost complete.  We still have the blue tarp, and there is no rain in the forecast for the weekend.

The windows arrived today.  They will likely be installed on Monday or Tuesday.  There was a bit of initial confusion about whether we had the correct number of windows, but it seems all is in order.

Roof

We'll be getting a quote on re-shingling the roof on the existing house and garage, since the shingles are on both of these are past their best-before date.

Packing

Lots more of that done today.

The POD also arrived.  There was no easy way to get it onto the lawn without damaging either the neighbour's lawn, or having to risk taking some major limbs off of the apple tree when it came time to remove the POD.  So we got a temporary permit to put the thing on the street for a few days, after which the POD people will store the thing in a climate controlled warehouse for the summer.  A bit pricier, and the goods will get moved around...but the storage conditions are probably better.

Saturday will be another day of packing, and then hopefully Sunday will be "load the POD day".  It's like moving, except you don't have to drive the truck anywhere or unload it.
