No blog last night (I was assembling Ikea furniture). Here's a quick roundup of what's been happening.
I worked from home today, as the appliance repairman was coming to put the replacement wheels on the fridge. That's all done now, and we got rid of a couple of more panels of Masonite that were around the fridge.
Andrew has finished off the ground floor deck, and constructed some temporary steps. The so-called temporary steps are actually pretty nice, and are made out of cedar no less. A load of lumber arrived today for the decking and under-structure of the second storey balcony...so Andrew will be starting on that soon.
Saturday night's mystery plumbing leak has been solved. It was to to with The Sump Pump Solution That Shall Not Be Named. Things have been adjusted, and we should be good to go from here on in.
The glass panels for the ensuite shower have been installed. Now we just need to get some tile going in there.
The glass is either etched or sandblasted. The frosting is not a film. The glass panels are nicely mitered where the form the corner. Those two strips of duct tape should ensure that nobody sees anything they're not supposed to see.
The strange thing about the glass panels is that when they were wrapped in their protective film, they look much more see-through than when the film was removed. Usually things get clearer when you take that sort of film of, but in this case it was just the opposite.
Dinner tonight was a Thai curry soup with roasted butternut squash. For the first time, I went to the trouble of pushing the pureed soup through a sieve. This tuned out to be totally worth the effort, giving the soup a nice velvety consistency.
Tomorrow will be fun. Lots of snow today and tonight, followed by freezing rain. Oh, and the transit strike that is set for tomorrow.
