Hopefully, the Saturday trips will start to get less frequent very soon.
First to Preston Hardware to sort out the bathroom accessories. The ones we'd ordered were more or less "indefinitely back-ordered", so it was time to pick some different ones. Then we picked up the proper shower head for the main bathroom. Then it was off the the "hardware store" side of the store to pick up various and sundry things (the plumbing showroom at Preston Hardware is essentially a whole separate store from the actual hardware store).
The oddball errand today was to go to Chinatown to stock up on some things. I'm going to make Pot Stickers tomorrow, so I needed a couple of extra things for that.
No Ren-Oh Saturday is complete without the obligatory trip to Ikea for this and that. This time, it was mostly things to organize the kitchen and bathroom drawers. Things are starting to take shape nicely now.
After that, most of the afternoon was gone, so it was time to unpack the new purchases, etc.
Tomorrow is the "Sunday Shuffle". Preston is closed Sunday, so we substitute Olympia Tile (which is closed Saturday). We need to pick out some tile for the downstairs shower. And of course, Ikea to deal with returns and things overlooked on today's trip.
We got word today that the window coverings for the upstairs bedroom will arrive Monday and be installed Wednesday. Fingers crossed.
A few pictures...
The "fake chimney" cover for the range hood has been cut at Ridalco, and the fit is good. It hasn't been fully fastened in place yet, hence the wood shims near the ceiling.
Other range hood news, the appliance repairman was here on Friday, and he removed some internal dampers that were interfering with the exhaust air. Now things are running much better. I had the wok going tonight, kicking up a bunch of smoke, etc and with the range hood going full-tilt, the kitchen was not affected by smoke, fumes, etc.
new laminate floor in the basement.
In the downstairs bathroom, this is the new bath vanity and medicine cabinet. The countertop is the same as was used in the laundry room. When we bought the countertop for the laundry room, we got one piece slightly larger so there would be an off-cut that could be used in the bathroom. Still to come, there is another wall cabinet that will be installed over the toilet.
Laminate floor has also been installed in the downstairs bedroom.
Gerald and Peter worked hard on Friday to make sure the room would be done by the time Maddy got home. The only thing left to do is to paint a bit of the baseboard. Gerald also got some wooden slats and plywood to fit the bed, so we wouldn't have to get another box-spring.
