Codreanu came over on Saturday to finish the tile backsplash in the kitchen, and the backsplash in both bathrooms and near the laundry sink. Tomorrow, he'll put a bit of sealer on the slate tiles...and either tomorrow or later in the week he'll grout the various backsplashes he did on Saturday.
Other than that, the big activities for us this weekend were sanding and finishing Jane's table, as well as sanding and finishing the kitchen island. The original finish on the island hadn't been sanded between coats, so we decided to see what we could accomplish with some wet-sanding between successive coats. The surface on the island is much more smooth and continuous now. We have a little work let to do to put a final finish on the surface, but other than that we're good to go.
Jane's table looks great with the finish applied. I'll post some pictures later in the week.

Oh, and I fixed the flapper valve on the basement toilet that has been in need of fixing since the summer. No more dripping!
