Tablelands by day

I still haven’t really taken a good pass through the photos from Newfoundland, so in the meantime, here’s another one I cherry-picked from the bunch.  Between the three of us, we shot over 1400 frames on the trip, not even counting images that were deleted along the way.

The Tablelands are a distinctive geological formation, though to be an exposed piece of the Earth’s mantle, as opposed to the crust that covers most of the Earth’s surface.  There are a handful of places on Earth where the mantle is thought to be visible, and this is apparently one of the best examples.

We did a nice hike there, and I’ll have more pictures from the tablelands in future blog posts.
